Default RSPB Leighton Moss 26th-29th November 2015

Just a short post and a few pics regarding my recent visit to Grange over Sands and RSPB Leighton Moss.

The weather was at times wet and windy but thankfully not half as bad as the recent heavy rains and floods that Cumbria and the North West in general have recently suffered. Wellingtons were a must to be able to enter all of the hides.

The highlights at Leighton Moss were great sightings of 2 Otters, one sighting was of a dog Otter and the other separate sighting was of a pup!
A few thousand Starlings were viewed from the Skytower as they came in to roost at dusk and caught the attention of a couple of Marsh Harriers! A fantastic end to a wet day! The Skytower is a great addition to a what is a splendid reserve.

Cartmel Priory was visited, awesome is the only word to describe it once you are inside the Priory.

Some lovely Ducks and birds were on and around the duck pond at Grange-over-Sands. They were nice to see whilst waiting for the train to Silverdale and then just a short walk to Leighton Moss.http://www.bodian.co.uk/d.html

Thank you for your interest. The Geese were on the duck pond at Grange.

Thanks for sharing that Judith, the skytower sounds worth exploring. Great pictures, very envious of the Otters!

Love the picture of the rabbits!

It reminds me of a small, easily overlooked feature of Dalemain House, near Penrith. As you go up one of the staircases there's a small cut-out in one of the risers with a sign saying "Miss Mouse's Parlour". Bend down and take a peek, and you see into a beautifully furnished little sitting room for the house mice, complete with little furry models, put there many years ago apparently to entertain the family's children. It's a lovely idea!
