Got my eyes peeled, Ruth! Thanks for the link, interesting info on there!

I watched the article on Butterflies on BBC1 this morning, such a massive decline with a lot of butterfly species!

Yes I saw that too.......as you say a terrible decline in some species being blamed on loss of habitat......and the "summer" weather!

Hi all, I saw several painted ladies today.
Together with some of the more common ones, I have never seen quite so many butterflies.
I took in the region of 350 photographs which I am going through now...
In a very small area I saw several small coppers, several veined whites, several speckled wood, hundreds of large white and common blues (both male and female).
Numerous gatekeepers, meadow browns, a couple of tortoishells. Oh and some moths which I don't have a clue!

Going for something to eat now having been out all day but will post a few up over the next couple of days. perhaps John will be able to help with the moths

Here is one from Shropshire

I have seen lots this year having been down to Cornwall where they had arrived en masse in June which was unforgettable But, seeing a few today, I was surprised at how big they are!
