Default Help Needed with this Sparrowhawk.

Taken this morning at College Lake. I'm pretty sure this is a sparrowhawk, but he looks, well, odd. The eyes and legs are very intense, is it a juvenile or time of the year?

I would agree with a juvenile Sparrowhawk, Peter, but don't take my word for it.

I had a very young one land on my garage roof a few years ago, it's mum perched in the conifers not too far away from it, I reckon it had not long fledged. It feathering was a very mottled black/grey and white, you can see that on your Sparrowhawk in the last pic. I will see if i can find the pic out sometime.

A nice find, Peter.

Edit: Great pics too!

Thanks Mike, and my apologies to the ladies who came in the hide this morning, I said it was a Hobby, which at first glance I thought it was. She seemed pleased with that anyway.

ADULT MALE SPARROW HAWK, drying off from a bath. Its moulting time for raptors, note new feathers. Colout of nostrels legs and eyes, with the slate blue back ADULT.
