From a distance, it looked the size of a little egret or heron. May have been slightly smaller. Hard to judge when they are so far away.

I remember thinking I thought it looked like a large seagull at first, like a great black backed one.
But being so far away, I reckoned it must be slightly bigger and it didn't fly like a seagull.
