Default Not what is this bird, what has he caught.

I saw him catch this and after flicking it around until it was dead he took it to the water, washed it and downed it in one. Never seen that before, any idea what he caught?

Good shot Peter, I'm not sure what it is - could be a vole??

I saw a video of one taking a small rabbit a while back, I can't remember where exactly, but I think it was someone on here that posted a link.

Default What is it eating?

Looks like a water vole to me. Only because there was a programme on tv about them last night. Never realised they were so big.

Great shots Peter. Shame about the little critter though If this is a water vole, they look bigger than voles as they are really small.

They eat rats too............

I remember, while on a visit to Inner Marsh Farm, hearing of a Grey Heron grabbing and eating a Water Rail during the spring high tide at Parkgate on the Wirral.
