Bird seen in Greater Manchester

Can you identify this bird, one of a pair on the Bridgewater Canal in Worsley, Greater Manchester.

It looks like a scooter but the white breast is not a feature in scooters. So not sure.

It looks like a Common Scoter to me too tho the white is wrong as Maggie says.......maybe a Heinz 57 variety?? lol

And what's wrong with Hybrids? I find them fascinating as they are breeding some form of new birds and all the other birds developed from one species to another over the centuries.

Oh please don't get me wrong, I personally have nothing against hybrids (he says quickly before the hybrid police arrive).
And the term Manky Mallard is not, and never was, started by my good self, and anyone who claims I did is a ******* liar !!!
