Default Bunting id

Hi guys

Can anyone confirm the id of this little chap for me please? I know what I think it is, but would appreciate confirmation.

Well, I would say a Lapland Bunting? Never seen one for myself though, one day perhaps.

Surely a Corn Bunting?

I'd be interested to know if it wasn't!

Edit: - Oh, Judith beat me to it and now I agree with her.

And if you saw it in your part of the world that is way off the map on the RSPB page.

I reckon distribution maps need updating, Peter! Who knows what will turn up where these days?

I see you have just returned from a week in Norfolk.....there were I believe 13 or 14 reported along the East Bank at Cley last week. Is this were you saw the Lapland Bunting?

Thanks very much guys, I was fairly confident but never like to 'call' it without a second opinion.

Peter - we saw it on the beach between Cley and Salthouses in Norfolk, so it was very much within its distribution I guess. Perched quite obligingly but on the very edge of our camera's range!

Funnily enough we'd been told at Cley there were some about on the shingle but I didn't think we'd actually find one for ourselves though.

Ha, very nearly. About 1/4 a mile further along than the East Bank, and we only saw three (two very briefly, and the friendly one pictured).
