I am sure it is a Willow Warbler. (remember this : - Flickr: Discussing SEPARATING WILLOW WARBLERS and CHIFFCHAFFS in Birds and Wildlife UK ) But a second opinion is always best in my case...

But what about the primary projection? Maybe a bit too long for a chiffchaff? You do get the odd willow warbler with dark/pale legs.

There is hope for me yet. I studied the wing length against the guide above and I agree the wing says WW. As for the leg colour, it could the a trick of the light and the blur?

I agree with Mike Thrower that its a Chiffchaff, as well as the dark legs the overall tone of the bird is too brown to be a Willow Warbler. The primary projection is too blurry to judge properly and the differences can be subtle to say the least, especially on an active feeding bird, Chiffchaff have a habit of frequently pumping its tail up and down when feeding which can also be a pointer when watching birds moving through vegetation/scrub, Willow Warblers only do this on occasions.

The supercillium is a bit obvious but could be a Scandanavian bird passing tyrough, they have a more obvious eye stripe than the british race

cheers, John

Thumbs up

Hio John

Firstly thanks everyone for your explanations............Ive listed it as a Chiffchaff

its out of focus due to the fact Camera was being used on Manual.....First it was on the Fence

amongst House sparrows it flew to the Tree and was there for around 10 seconds before I could Focus in properly - it had gone [ Sods Law ]

If its from Scandanavien would it still be a Chiffchaff or some thing else John

Cheers Mike
