This was taken by a mate of mine in Georgia, USofA. Any ideas please?

I've no idea but somewhere along the lines of a Goshawk ..Or Sparrowhawk?

Ha!, I've gone with Northern Goshawk as my mate won't know any better and a look through google images doesn't provide any conflicting evidence.

Looks like a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk

It looks a bit like this one??

Tail too short and tail barring too fine for Coopers
