Default ID Please

My instinct tells me its a house sparrow, but it was in the country miles from any houses is it or isnt it thank you...Ray

I've an infrequent male on my bird table and I've only ever ID'd one female at a reserve in the Midlands. I think they are common enough if you are in the right area.

They're officially 'common' but not the sort of bird you'll usually see away from its habitat. You'd expect to see one at a wetland reserve though.

Funnily enough, I was on a good run of reed buntings prior to the new year, and since NYE despite a couple of visits to reserves where I was seeing them before, I haven't seen one!

The male birds are especially nice looking in the summer!

I've not seen a female before or maybe I did and thought it was a sparrow.
