Brambling?

Is this a female brambling or just a chaffinch? It doesn't look quite right for either. Unfortunately the photo was hand held and a bit distant without the teleconverter so it's rather poor.

It doesn't look quite right for a female Brambling or a Chaffinch because it isn't!

It's a winter plumaged male Brambling.
