I was on the beach and a flock of these flew past.

Black-tailed Godwits, nice flight shot
 Actually - I've been too hasty! - They could be Redshank!! Still a nice flight shot LOL!!!! An expert will be along in a bit no doubt - the bill looks more Godwit to me though?!

You were right with Godwits, but not Black-tailed. Black-tailed Godwit has a really obvious broad white bar down the middle of the wing; Bar-tailed Godwit has much plainer wings, like these. Redshank also has a distinctive wing pattern with a broad white area on the trailing edge, which is unique. These are Bar-tailed Godwits.

I would go with Bar-tailed Godwit, the legs look alot shorter in flight. I was unable to get any closer to them wading for a better photo, as I was chaperoned by a nine year old.
