Hi folks
I was sitting staring blankly out of the window at around 7.30am this morning when i noticed two birds sat side by side in a tree opposite around 100 yards away, to me the looked like starling size birds with what seemed like 6 sparrows sat all around them; anyway picking my scope up i then realised that i was completely wrong on size and types. The sparrows turned out to be starlings i think lol and i am not sure what the other bird is can you help, grabbing my camera and shoving it against the scope i was able to get a short video but by the time i was set up one had flew away; anyway i don't care its made my day but i will have to make a date with spec savers and get a retest. regards (M)ick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rIUXEo17ck Last edited by theonethatgotaway; 26-02-11 at 09:21 AM. |

It's a Mistle Thrush, and a good lesson on how wrong our perceptions of size can so often be. When identifying birds for people I invariably fnd their description of size the most useless piece of information - and amazing how often it is completely wrong - even when they're adamant about it!

Hi Twitcheruth
Thanks for your comments, yes it is easy to get things wrong well it is when i describe things;lol I only got my new readers the other day from spec savers and they say my distance vision is perfect mind you perhaps they need to put glasses on when they test me. lol thanks again regards (M)ick |
