Default Black Tailed Godwit....?

Is this a Black Tailed Godwit alongside Bar Tailed Godwits or has one just got different plumage.

Definitely Black-tailed for me. Notice the barred under parts and longer leg projection in the flight shot. Great photos for comparison though well done.

What about the tails! (no other feature is really needed)

It's interesting that to note that the Black-tailed Godwit is well on it's way to breeding plumage, while none of the Bar-tailed show any sign of starting to moult - perhaps just a coincidence though!

That's true, but was just giving a couple of other good pointers to separate the two as you don't always get that good of a view if the tails.
