Hi,
I took this photo in Kearsney Abbey (near Dover) a few days ago. Could anyone tell me what kind of duck is in the foreground, please? (the large one below the pair of mallard ducks) John Images of Dover | Videos of Dover | Dover Psychology Blog |

Unlike most ducks that are identified as 'hybrids' but are in fact simply domestic variants of Mallard (such as Rouens), I think this one really is a hybrid (i.e. with different species for parents). I believe this is a Mallard x Muscovy Duck hybrid.
I think the one in Plainsailing's link is a domestic variant of Mallard by the way. |
