Default What could it be...

I keep seeing a bird in the garden, looks like a small sparrow but with quite a dark grey chest. Is it a juvenile sparrow I wonder? I will try & get a pic to upload into the thread if it comes back

The first one is a dunnock.

Yes, the 2nd one is a juvenile starling, and a very pale one too!

A Dunnock! Wow Yeyyyyyyyyyyyy

I have slightly over exposed the starling but it is quite pale, maybe not as pale as the pic suggests

ps. Maybe i should post pics of all the birds I think are 'sparrows' LoL

The Dunnock is also known as the Hedge Sparrow, so there is a resemblance

But just remember that despite some people calling it a hedge sparrow, it isn't...

House Sparrows (passer domesticus) and Tree Sparrows (passer montanus) are true sparrows.
The Dunnock (prunella modularis) isn't even in the same family; it's acually an accentor.
