Confused or trick of light

Hi took some pictures at the seaside, I noticed one of the black headed gulls had a lot of black on head, compared to others with normal winter markings, also the beak was a lot reder, or is it just a trick of the light.

Coming into Summer Plumage, had on last week with full hood.
