Default Just for fun.!

Pretty sure i have identified these birds correctly, but what do you think...?In the gallery. Preston docks to millenium canal. But then again i am notoriously bad at this identifying lark....hehe. My cunning plan to sit back and have a beer ,whilst letting others do the identifying seems to have backfired....not even a bite though a number of views ........drat....!

I haven't replied as yet 'cos I'm stumped - and Johns away!!

Pictures 1 & 2 - not sure. In pic 3 the bird at the top has a tail like a Great Grey Shrike, but it's a bit late for them now, although not impossible.

Pics 4 - 6 is a Yellowhammer (I think).

Will these attempts at ID'ing your birds count as payment for my trips south of the Ribble

Good luck,

Alan

I was actually nearly right. The linnets i had as ...linnets or twites. The long tailed tit stumped me at first,as i thought the main bird looked like a marsh tit or willow tit. Then i looked more closely at the bird with its tail hanging down, head hidden..checked out the tail and thought long tailed tit ... the main bird is probably a youngster is this correct? Was secretly hoping for one of the other tits though.Peace.!

Yes the bird with the brown mask is a juvenile, it makes them appear quite different from the adults

cheers, John
