Hi all, I'm new to Birding UK & Ireland and although I don't go out of my way to go birdwatching I do enjoy birds very much, I know a modest amount and I have seen (I think) quite a variety.
Anyway I was recently in Bulgaria on a coach to Sofia when I saw what I think (and hope) to be a Peregrine perched on a tree at the roadside. The colour of the beak and legs were a startling yellow, the back and the "hood" a slate-grey; larger and more heavily built than a kestrel for sure. If any of you have gone birding in Eastern Europe or have a handy little book on E. European birds, then maybe you could tell me what else I could have possibly confused this bird with? A Goshawk maybe? How can I be sure
Many thanks, I hope to be on this forum regularly.
