Default id please

photographed these 2 small birds in a large field, quite shy, photos taken with 420 mm lens from @ 200 meters, any idea? thought they were fieldfares, but these seem quite less plump.
had to make picture smaller for this website, hope you can figure out what these are.

thanks everyone,
I had seen loats of them during the snow, few weeks ago, close up, they must have lost weight!!

I was a good bit away from them, but they grey bits I could see clearly. Fieldfare was the fist thing that came into my head.

They could be Linnets if they were that small??
