Default What's this Duck?

Took photo (bad) of this Duck last year, any ideas?

It's a male Ferruginous Duck, where was the photo taken?

Thanks clyde birder there was a pair of these on my local Rspb reserve Strumpshaw Fenn in Norfolk. I took the photo in April last year,i had only just got a new camera. I have only just been shown how to put photos on here (thanks to my daughter)

They are rare birds in the uk, most are presumed escapee's from captivity

As far as i know its the first time this bird has been recorded at Stumpshaw Fenn, but the strange thing is that there was a pair of them......im not even sure if the birds were recorded by the warden.(part time volunteer)no offence.

I checked the records for Strumpshaw Fen RSPB reserve and there were 2 escaped male Ferruginous Ducks recorded (both colour ringed) last April

I was at Strumpshaw Fen last May Adie and there was an escaped Drake paired up with a Pochard. It had been present there for quite some as I was informed by the warden.

There was a male present in early april and then a different male turned (both were colour ringed so different birds) up in mid April and stayed on for some time

One of the pair you seen will have been the female Pochard Dennis photographed (see his post) the two males were there at different times
