Default Lime Butterfly

Spotted this butterfly whilst observing the little green bee-eaters yesterday. Apparently it's a lime butterfly. Rather attractive I thought.

Beautiful butterfly there. I haven't seen any yet but I guess it's still a tad early for them here in Scotland.
Midges are staring to come out in force though

That is a super photo of the Lime Butterfly, Ian! The Swallowtail Butterflies are so pretty. I found this link that I thought you may find interesting, it gives other names for your butterfly.

The flower it is on looks like Lantana, a very aromatic flower! I first saw these plants in Portugal where they are prolific and are often used as hedges.

Thanks for the links Little Sparrow - very interesting. Whilst I've always enjoyed seeing butterflies I've never really followed up my sightings with any research - I think I'll be showing more interest in both butterflies and moths in future.

Shirley, I took the photograph in Abu Dhabi. I'm not aware if they can be found in the UK.
