Brecon Beacons - 2007/07/12 01:25 Hello,

My interest in birds is very new, and I'm really just at the stage of learning the most common garden birds, so hopefully my question here will be easy for many of you to answer!

I was recently in the Brecon Beacons, walking along the ridge from Fan Hir to Llyn Fan Fach in the East of the Black Mountain. There was one small bird that seemed ever present. It seemed to call constantly (reminded me of 1980s space invader sound effects). It would hang in the air and then suddenly drop to the ground. I would say it was about the size of a sparrow. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo. Any ideas of what it might have been?

Thanks

Re:Brecon Beacons - 2007/07/30 03:44 That definitely sounds like a Skylark. Your description was pretty good for a beginner. I hope you enjoy your bird watching.

Gerry.

Re:Brecon Beacons - 2007/07/31 01:49 Thank you both. Yes I decided in the end it probably was a skylark. The audio clip on the RSPB website clinched it for me.
