flock in the field - 2008/01/22 18:43
Hello, I am in the South of Ireland, County Cork. There is a flock of smallish (song thrush/starling sized) birds, about thirty of them, who seem to be feeding on the pasture. They are disturbed and take flight very easily and I have not been able to get a good visual identification. They have very rapid wing beats and always retreat to a tall tree. A large part of the flock rise when disturbed with others following one by one. They are brown in colour, at first I thought they might be juvenile starlings, but am unsure. Would anyone have an idea as to what they are? I know the information is vague, but perhaps the size of the flock and habit of being in the field is an indicator? Thank you.
