What's that bird? - 2006/08/30 12:19 Hi there - first post from me!
This morning i saw a couple of birds that puzzled me and wondered what they might be? I could be really stupid here coz they looked like pigeons, but were a lot bigger and fluffier. They were dark grey, with a long, thin black beak. THey were almost a large ball in shape and had pale claw feet. Is this normal?? i'm new to birdwatching so any help greatly appreciated.

Re:What's that bird? - 2006/08/31 18:44 This is very hard to identify, as we looked in our RSPB Guide to Britih Bird and couldn't find anything that sounded like your bird.

I need a bit more information:

What location did you see the birds?
Was it cold, because it sounds like they may have been trying to keep warm?
    How long were their beaks?
How similar to pigeons were they, eg. could they have been Jackdaws, or is that too different.

If you answer these questions I will have a guess.

Re:What's that bird? - 2006/09/04 11:16 The size you describe has captured my imagination..

like pigeons, but were a lot bigger and fluffier

That surely narrows down the choices.

Maybe something domestic or some kind of goose??
