Wierd colouration. - 2006/04/14 13:00
I was riding my bike along The Greenway, which runs from the Thames Barrier to Wick Lane in East London. Just as I was passing the cemetary at Hermit Road (City of London Cemetary, Plaistow.) I noticed a blackbird with white markings around it's neck. The marking's were about 4mm at their thickest, and were about 15mm long, covering the side of the neck, with a gap between each one, made up of the normal coloured feathers. The beak was not yellow, which prompted me to go search for any other pictures like the bird I saw. (At the moment, on The Greenway, the City of London Cemetary are replacing the fence, as it has become ingrown with tree's, with the tree's having been cut away from the metal barred fence they were growing through.) Can anyone verify what bird I saw? (It was not tame, but did not move too far from my line of travel, hopping from the outside of the chopped logs and branches, to the middle of the pile, being visible to me at all times, knowing I was not stopping, had I have stopped, it would have gone.)
This sighting happened at approx 1900h, Thursday 13th, April, 2006. (Yesterday.)
