mystery bird - 2008/05/26 01:03 I saw this bird recently in a bush beside a pond. I'm wondering if it's one of the warbler family.
I realise it's a poor picture but I had to zoom in to get it at all.

From the detail I can make it, it looks like a Common Whitethroat.
Can you remember if the bird had a blue-grey head and warm brown back?

Many thanks for the reply and information. It was quite a long way from me but I think the head and back were of similar colour - i.e. the blue/grey that you mention.
I shall be at the location again soon & hope to get more pictures which I'll upload.

It's a Spotted Flycatcher, the head shape and plumage detail from the other two images you posted links for clinched the ID.
