Hi, just noticed your post. If you haven't already bought a pair of binoculars, the Viking Traveller are worth a look, they are £24.99 from the RSPB shop, they are light and portable. The magnification is 8 x 21 and would be ideal to put in your pocket.

Another good compact binocular choice would be the Opticron Vega, they are £49 though (link below for more info).
