South coast - 2007/10/12 20:21
If you're any where near the south coast, try either Langstone Harbour (also called Farlington Marshes) or Pagham Harbour.
Both are excellent with a range of habitats to suit all species. Langstone Harbour is just north of Portsmouth, off the A27/A2030 junction - http://www.multimap.com/maps/?hloc=GB|pagham%20harbour#t=l&map=50.81667,-1|14|4&loc=GB:50.81667:-1:14|Langstone%20harbour|Langstone%20Harbour
Pagham Harbour is just below Chichester - http://www.multimap.com/maps/?hloc=GB|pagham%20harbour#t=l&map=50.77087,-0.74479|14|4&loc=GB:50.77087:-0.74479:14|pagham%20harbour|Pagham,%20PO21%204 (This is for Pagham itself, best parking is the other side, just off Selsey Road, signposted as a nature reserve).
I've spent only a couple of hours at a time at each, but still seen in excess of 40 different species each time. Roll on the winter for large flocks of waders!
