Re:Total Beginner - 2007/08/24 04:38 John, you don't have to pay the earth for binoculars. Viking do a reasonably priced range and you can get a pair from the RSPB, made by Viking for under £150. Two books worth getting are Where to watch Birds Britain and Collins Bird Guide: The Most Complete Guide to the Birds of Britain and Europe. you can get both from Amazon.co.uk at a third of the price.
