Mystery lbj's - 2008/05/27 06:01 Just been walking on Kinder in the peak district. On the way up, by way of Grindsbrook Clough, I saw a small (5-10) flock of brown birds that I just can't seem to identify. Streaked brown breast/head with grey belly. Didn't manage to get a look at the back. Behaved ever so much like Goldfinch - and about the same size as well- darted around, chasing each other and moving from bush to bush. The landscape was heather. What could these have been?

Re:Mystery lbj's - 2008/05/29 01:36 Sounds very much like Meadow Pipit's, they are always chasing each other around at this time of year. The habitat would also back up that ID

Cheers, John
